The Noun Project is an interesting initiative with the goal of providing a simple and clear symbol for everything. The result is over 1800 high quality icons submitted by artists around the world. These icons use Creative Commons licensing so they’re open to use for free for everyone. Sweet.

Yours truly has contributed. So if you ever need an icon to represent the idea of a “flashback” or a Japanese styled multipurpose weapon like a “Kunai“…look no further.

It’s the little things: Gmail’s ‘back’ button.

Gmail finally did away with their text-based “Back to inbox button” and has replaced it with a consistent css’d button, finally curing my OCD over that navigation row’s disjointedness! Thanks Google! Oh, and good luck with that “plus” stuff. I hear it’s the cat’s pajamas

Well, some great plugin-developers are always working to create great apps to let you experience your content in a new way…simply be re-imagining the u.i..

Check out my recent (recent to me because I’m just discovering them…I’m sure they’ve been around for a couple years now) favorites:

Feedly for Chrome – transform your Google Reader into a magazine-like page that flows
Post Post for Chrome – instead of looking at that Facebook Feed, how about seeing those feed items in content-appropriate sizes and placement?
TweetDeck for Chrome – a lot of people depend on tweetdeck to centralize all their tweets and wall posts and whatever other inundating social scraps we need in our lives.
